We eventually got back together and made
our way back down the path. The cable car was also available but
some of the party came down via the toboggan run. Some enjoyed it
so much they went back up the cable car and came down it again! We
took a slow stroll down the (hundreds) of steps.
Once at the bottom of the trail there
were many stalls selling tourist souvenirs, some good, some poor,
but an essential buy was the "I climbed the Great Wall"
tee shirt.
And of course a bright pink plastic
parasol. Look out for this item in various pictures further along.
After a short stroll you pass the
booking office for the cable car. Pat has no head for heights so
we had passed on this. One wondered why there was also the
opportunity to buy Insurance for your ride...........
It's still only the second day in China, we seem to have done so
much, so after lunch at a restaurant (Chinese of course) its back to
Beijing to the south of the city to an area called Tianten Park
where the Temple of Heaven is situated.
