The next part of the trip was the
journey on the Trans Siberian Express to Mongolia. After an early
start we were taken to the railway station to be greeted by a
sight I shall never forget, thousands of people milling about both
outside and inside the station. |
|
|
Carrying our luggage we were eventually
guided by Catherine and Enkhbold to the correct part of the
station which was already crowded. |
Having the correct piece of paper,
Catherine shepherded us through the narrow turnstile down to the
relative calm of the platform. this seemed quite miraculous,
obviously a lot of people did not have the correct piece of paper! |
|
|
The platform was lined with people
selling food and dinks from carts. Some of the food was
recognisable, some wasn't but of course we were armed with our
Cupasoups and Snackpots!! |
After settling down in our 4 bunk carriage the train pulled out of
the station and soon we were passing through amazing country side.
|
|
|
The train winds through the hills with the Great Wall visible from
both sides.
|
The view is spectacular and we stand in the corridor and look on at
the passing sceanery.
